A French Baby Shower

This past weekend a few of us gals from church hosted a french themed baby shower for our friend, Amanda. All who know Amanda know she loves white and neutral colors–so when it came to planning her shower it was an easy decision as to which colors would guide the style.

We just had the best time; below you’ll find a few photos of all the pretty decor details.

Paper goods, calligraphy, and hand written notes have always been a love of mine. There’s something special about receiving a letter in the mail; perhaps it’s the old soul in me–but I hope we never truly convert to paperless.

I believe that an invitation sets the tone for a party; so once we decided on the shower theme, I knew right away who to call for help with the invitation suite–no other than my pals at Three Little Words. In addition to the invitations, we printed a cohesive design for the menu card, encouragement cards, and thank you cards. Custom ‘thank you’ cards serve as a great gift idea, too (this is part of what I gave to the new mommy). It wouldn’t be a french party without the quintessential macaron; of course we kept with the neutral color scheme by picking the vanilla flavored delights. For the party favors, our co-host wrapped french soap in this beautiful paper stamped with “merci.” They turned out beautiful! It was such a fun little treat for all the guests. Throughout our time at the shower, guests wrote encouragement notes to Amanda. We plan on mailing these to the future mommy, after she has the baby, as a means to encourage her during those sleepless days and nights. Hopefully it will give her a boost of energy to know she is loved and cared for by friends. As an alternative to flowers we used linen bouquets. Our friend is allergic to flowers so instead of making her sneeze we opted for a cost friendly approach, and it matched the decor so well. How fun are these mini juice shooters? They were fresh pressed moments before guests arrived, and chock-full of nutritional fruits and veggies. They were a hit! The best part about co-hosting a shower with friends is that everyone brings a unique idea or skill to the group, making the day so special. Our friend Kari is the cook master of the group, so she graciously made all our sandwiches and baked the delicious pumpkin cupcakes. Everyone knew their charge–stick with white and neutrals, and bring what you got. We pieced together our serving platters, dishes, linens and everything came together so perfectly.

This reminds me of a verse I like so dearly, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Thankful for my friends who are there to help pick me up, or just to help me host a party 🙂
