Bedding Refresh

I have a love affair with my bed. Chris calls me a professional sleeper, because I can snooze for hours upon hours. So it should come to no surprise that lounging in bed — coffee in hand — is one of my favorite pastimes. We recently invested in a fresh pair of luxury sheets from Crane & Canopy. And, let me tell you. They are silky soft, making it quite difficult to get out of bed. In today’s post I’m talking about tips for refreshing your bed linens to create a cozy and inviting bedroom.

The key to creating an interesting bedding composition is texture, and layers. To complement the white scalloped sheets I layered a white quilt between the flat sheet and the duvet. Rather than cover the full bed with the duvet, I folded it over in half exposing the quilt. Plus those scalloped sheets are too pretty to cover. Another trick I learned is to stuff your duvet cover with two duvets. This is how most retail showrooms display their bedding, giving it that alluring fullness we all love.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to mix and match your fabrics. Different patterns create textured aesthetics that pop, particularly when choosing a similar color palette. To complement the scalloped pillowcases, I added in two distinct quilted shams giving the bed more interest. You can also layer in a throw blanket for the final, cozy touch. Even when I was a child, I had an obsession with my bed. I made it every day. I tucked the sheets, fluffed the pillows and smoothed the linen wrinkles. I’d even prohibit harmless friends from sitting on my bed after it was made to perfection. Not my proudest moment, to say the least. Perhaps it was then I developed an eye for bedding. Thankfully I’m not quite as strict now; so don’t worry. I’ll let you sit on my bed, if you come for a visit.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great Sunday. xo
