Fedora Hat

img_5187_v2It’s official. Autumn is here, and I couldn’t be more excited. Today, in the Bay Area, it’s a bit overcast, making it feel even more like fall. This time of year, all I crave are cozy layers and comfy knit sweaters. However, the weather has been a little wonky the last few weeks, with temperatures jumping from the 80s down to the 50s.

The best way to conquer the unpredictable weather is to slowly transition summer pieces with fall accents–like a fedora hat, neck scarf, or booties. This way you feel you’re appropriately dressed for the season, yet not melting in the heat. A fedora hat can instantaneously elevate any outfit, and make for a fall-ready look!

This dress is one of my favorites from summer, and it’s on sale! Rather than wear it with my usual go-to sandals, I opted for booties to compliment the autumn breeze; but even if you find yourself in a warm climate, like Florida, this trick works wonders for your wardrobe. With just a few accessory changes, your summer pieces flip into fall-ready looks.

On a separate note, I’m excited to share that I’m starting a new series on the blog called “Your Home Story.” For quite some time now, the notion of featuring other women on the blog has been stewing in my mind. There are so many creative, interesting and ambitious women in this world, and I feel really passionate about creating a safe place where we can support each other through our respective endeavors, journeys, and struggles. When women come together to cheer each other on, something powerful happens. Confidence builds, and it seems–anything is possible.

Since I can remember, I dreamed of one day getting married and having my own  home–a  place where I would entertain, and host friends and family; a place where I’d do life with people, raise my kids and grow old. In my dream, a white picket fence secured my home and sat high on a hill, safe from all the negative harm the world could potentially offer. It was the kind of dream fairy tales are made of. As I got older, I realized that this picture-perfect storyboard isn’t always what life brings us, and each of our dreams play out varying scripts that, although sometimes different than we expected, are beautiful stories worth sharing.

The way we design our homes, the things we like, the schedules we adhere to–all of this varies among each of us. But it’s these differences that make each of us unique. With that said, my new series “Your Home Story” will share those unique stories of other women from all walks of life: Single, married, with kids, pregnant, those without or perhaps trying.

My desire for the blog has always been for it to be a place where women could find creative ideas to build the lifestyle of their dreams. Whether it be through styling tips, ways to host friends and family, decorate your home, or just a little life encouragement, this new series will bring components of that together. I’m so, so excited for this and hope that you will enjoy reading about these amazing women, their stories and their respective lifestyles. Each will be different, unique and equally beautiful.

Stay tuned for more! xo
