With less than 9 weeks left to go, I’m in full nesting mode. Cleaning, organizing and preparing for my maternity leave consume most of my free moments. From the cars to the closets, and even my husband’s office—there seems to be an urgent need to put everything in tiptop shape. Although I’d normally classify myself as a “doer,” this nesting energy is quite the real deal; in chatting with other mamas, I’m glad to see it’s not me going coo-coo, but part of the innate preparation process for our baby’s arrival. Oddly enough, it almost reminds me of my wedding planning: counting down the days, keenly focused on what’s needed to get done, all in time for the “big day.”

With that said, I’m enjoying every last minute with Chris as a family of two. Soon there will be a third person in the mix and life as we know it will change. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited beyond belief and can’t wait for our little girl to get here, but I’m intentionally savoring these last special moments with the hubs. In years to come, we’ll look back and say, “remember those days…we had so much time on our hands!” 🙂
