Weekend Traditions

Casual weekends at home are some of my favorite moments; and as a lover of family traditions, I’m always looking to build new ones with Chris (and our future family one day). We both love coffee in bed and leisurely mornings. Given that we don’t have kids yet this is quite easy to do. As one of my favorite authors, Lynette Lewis, would says: while you wait on one dream, pursue another. For me, I’m enjoying this season of life by creating weekend traditions with Chris, which includes cooking–something I’m not good at, but slowly learning as a new wife.

Office Facelift

This past weekend I tackled our back room, which has become more like a storage facility than an office. Things kept piling in corners to the point where we avoided using this room. Rather than sparking joy, this space created stress–more so for me than Chris, because you know how boys are…they don’t mind a little disorder here and there. So this weekend I finally got focused, and like a tornado, I gave our office a facelift.

The gift of hospitality

Mi mama is visiting me this week, and I can’t wait to play hostess; entertaining, and throwing parties are two of my favorite pastimes. When I open my home to friends and strangers my hope is to make them feel welcome, comfortable, and loved.

After a long, cross-country flight I know my mom will be very tired–ready to rest and relax in a comfy, inviting room. So, as I thought about the weekend and began to prepare I knew I wanted to welcome her with a hospitable gift–a basket with all the necessities (and maybe a few extra treats) she would need over the weekend!
