Our Newfound Family of Four

Hi there! It’s been awhile. If you haven’t already heard, our son Lincoln Thomas Carney was born during the early hours of June 11th. Although I rarely post to the blog, I’m eager to share a few of his newborn photos taken at 10 days old.

Adjusting to life as a family of four took me by surprise—it  was much harder than I expected. We’ve been living in a haze of late night feeds, dirty diapers and a zealous attention-seeking toddler. Our Lily girl was rightly confused by the arrival of her brother, all of which added an extra layer of complexity to our newfound family of four. With that said, we are all completely and utterly smitten by our boy—my gift from God. And Lily now chants Lincoln’s name during playtime, like we never knew life without him.

One of my favorite children’s books we read is the The Wonderful Things You Will Be. Lily knows the words by heart, as do I. Each day I do wonder who they’ll become, and feel honored to have a role in this as their mother—a role I never take lightly nor for granted. No matter what age, forever my babies they’ll be!

Thank you Irina Turkova for capturing these photos. We love them!
