We’re expecting a baby boy this June! I can’t believe it. When we found out the gender of the baby I was a bit shocked. I always assumed I would be a mom to girls. But, Chris and I are so excited to experience having a son, and I can’t wait to see Chris as a Dad to our little boy.

To celebrate, last week we went to Maui for a babymoon and our 4-year wedding anniversary. Lily had a blast playing in the soft Hawaiian sand, and resort pool–they even had a kid’s slide perfect for her age. Every day was an adventure! And although vacation isn’t quite relaxing like it used to be pre-child, we found so much joy in seeing Lily’s excitement in exploring a new place.

Each morning on our walk to breakfast we’d visit the resident bird Lucy, who’d give us a friendly “chirp.” Since leaving Maui, Lily is still mimicking Lucy’s sounds and flapping her arms like a bird. And we can’t mention the beach without a resounding “wa-wa” response (Lily loved the water!). Moments like these are what make vacation so memorable! I’m sure all the parents can relate.  

A part of me feels sad that it won’t be just me and my girl anymore. She is at such a fun age, interacting and speaking more and more. Oddly, I feel a little guilty I’ll have to split my time between the two kids; but I know this is a common feeling parents go through before having a second child. Parenting is a self-sacrificing, sanctifying, wild adventure, and we’re ready for this new season ahead!

On our last day of the trip, we went to Ulua beach, on the south shore, at sunset to capture some family photos. I wanted pictures to commemorate our last trip as a family of 3. We worked with Flytographer to identify a local photographer available during our stay, and we couldn’t be happier with how the images turned out! I highly recommend using them if you’re traveling and hoping to capture quality photos. Selfies are also a great way, but every now and then it’s nice to get those professional shots, especially for special occasions. I’m not sure how much I’ll be blogging going forward, but I have certainly missed documenting our life moments here. Time is so limited these days, and I have chosen to allocate most of it to my family and trying to stay sane (hehe!). But I know these hectic days are fleeting, and in a few years the kids will be in school and I’ll wonder where the time went. Until then, I’m enjoying the craziness, and squeezing in some “me” time where I can.
