We absolutely adore the quaint town of St. Helena! If you’ve been following along on my blog, you’ll know Chris and I got married in St. Helena at the dreamy Meadowood. Sunday was our one year wedding anniversary so we booked a long weekend in Wine Country to celebrate and relive our wedding memories.
With spring looming in the shadows, I packed wedges, flowy skirts and casual tees; and although the days are warm, the nights are still cool in Napa Valley requiring an extra layer. Leopard was my go-to for the weekend, and I paired it in an unlikely duo–stripes. I love this juxtaposition!
St. Helena is known for its wine–and you should certainly visit the wineries–but sometimes you can get a little wined-out from all the tastings; so when you’re needing a break from the grapes you must pay a visit to Archetype. It’s one of the few places in the area that serve craft cocktails. And let me tell you, they sure are delicious! The menu offers a wide range of scrumptious bites and the ambience is cozy with an understated elegant flair. My mom hosted my bridal luncheon here the day before our wedding, so it was fun to be back and reminisce the wedding festivities.
Another great spot for breakfast or an afternoon caffeine run is the Model Bakery. Their english muffins are soft and sweet and with jelly can sometimes be confused for a donut. And if that’s not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, hop on over to the neighboring Woodhouse Chocolate house for a confection filled morsel. The options are endless! Let’s just say you won’t leave St. Helena hungry.
During the winter season Napa Valley is blooming with mustard. It’s quite a pleasant surprise particularly when distant visitors expect to see dormant vines, but, rather, are welcomed with a beautifully blinding yellow landscape. Every time I think of mustard seeds I can’t help but be reminded of the bible verse Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith even as small as a mustard seed…nothing will be impossible.” Just another nudge of encouragement in the midst of wine country.
