Something In The Water

As I was uploading these pictures from our trip to Yosemite I couldn’t help but think of that Carrie Underwood song–Something In The Water. If you’re not familiar with the lyrics, you must take a listen. It has a powerful message of grace and redemption–two themes I hold dear to my heart. The holidays always seem to bring similar themes to the forefront making it, for most, the happiest time of the year. Unfortunately tragedy can hit, and it certainly has in Paris with the recent terrorist attacks; but one thing remains true and steady during uncertain times and that’s God’s unconditional love. No matter where we are this holiday season we can trust in something bigger than ourselves.

Yosemite is one of those places you have to see with your own eyes to truly appreciate its beauty. I’ve never been a real admirer of nature, but since since moving to California I’ve grown to love the outdoors; and Yosemite did not disappoint! Since it’s a National Park the area is extremely well manicured and maintained with lots of trails for exploring. The weekend we were there it was quite chilly so we got to enjoy some true winter weather. During the day the sun kept us warm, and I wore this shaggy Anthropolgie vest, which went perfect with the sporty backdrop of the park.  In the afternoon we enjoyed hot chocolate near the fire place–a seasonal must! The only thing missing was snow, which coincidentally came the night we left; a bummer to say the least. Hopefully a snowy trip is in our near future. We keep hearing that El Nino will bring lots of cool weather towards Tahoe. Maybe that will be our next getaway weekend. Chris and I have been taking a mini-moon every month for the first year of marriage, giving us the perfect excuse to explore California–a place that is becoming more and more like home.
