Spring Accents

Spring has officially sprung in the Bay Area (and so has the bump!). Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and the weather couldn’t be more beautiful. It’s that time of year where we get to update our wardrobe with fresh white tees and Spring accents that will carry us into the warmer months of Summer. A few new trends I’m loving right now include the slide sandal and the wicker bag—both are great transitional pieces into Spring. Go ahead, kick off your booties and let’s slide into Spring.

Our Baby’s Gender Reveal

IMG_4262We are having a girl!!!

During a visit back home we gathered both sides of the family for a luncheon and some very, nerve-racking cake-cutting. The anticipation continued to build over weeks of carrying a sealed envelope from my doctor, with the baby’s gender enclosed. When it finally came time to cut the cake my heart furiously pounded. I was so nervous—nervous with excitement! Nobody knew the gender (except for the cake baker) making it a special surprise the family could share together. Below are a few photos from the Gender Reveal and a short video of us cutting the cake.

Peplum Top

The peplum design is one of my favorite styles; but with the growing bump I need something with a bit more length. When I found this top at LOFT on the sale rack I was ecstatic! Not only is it peplum, but it’s long and drapey; and how cute is the plaid for spring and summer?! I went up a size to accommodate the belly so it will fit me throughout my pregnancy. If you hurry, you can also get this top at an additional 50% off!

We Are Pregnant!

We are so excited to share that we are expecting a wee little baby in July!! The last four months have flown by, and it’s crazy to think I’m nearly halfway through my pregnancy (I’m 19 weeks and counting). As new expecting parents there is still so much left to learn of what feels like a foreign ‘baby world.’ But now that I’m in my second trimester, I’m feeling much better with tremendous energy to read, absorb and learn all there is to know. (First trimester sickness is real, y’all! And a big reason why I was rather quiet on the blog for a few months). Between my sister who has three kiddos, and several mama friends, I know I’ll have lots of great resources for help.

Our road to pregnancy was long and windy, so we feel extra grateful and blessed to be with child—a strong reminder that dreams do come true in God’s perfect timing. For those of you who might be waiting on the dream of becoming a mama, know that you’re not alone. Just this week I read this encouraging blog post on the Proverbs 31 website, and I thought I’d share it here as well; hopefully you’ll find hope and encouragement knowing God has the power to work big miracles out of slim chances.

Chez Taylor

008

Today on the blog, I’m taking you inside the home of my dear friend Taylor, author of Simply Silicon Valley—a website dedicated to imparting ideas for how to live the good life on less. As you may recall from an earlier post, I’ve been dreaming up a new series for Story Hill Lane where I feature inspiring women in their home. As I wrestled with what to call this new series, it was Taylor herself who helped me settle on the name Chez. Chez is the French word meaning “at or in the home of” pronounced “shay.” This title felt so fitting—and chic—for the series’ vision. With that, I’m excited to share the first feature Chez Taylor, where I chat with Taylor about her home style, way of life, and her website Simply SV.
