Styling Gladiator Sandals

IMG_4662I have to admit, I haven’t always been a huge fan of the gladiator sandal. When they first became popular, I questioned the style and sort of felt that they were a bit busy, and slightly distracting with the straps tied around the ankle. However, I have warmed-up to this look and even found a bohemian-inspired pair that I really like. Best of all, they are on sale (hurry while supplies last)!

You know that feeling–of anticipation–you get, when you receive your online order in the mail? Excitement builds as you tear open the packing box: Will it fit perfectly? Will I still like it? Will it be a fail and require a dreadful return? Chris likes to joke that he knows when I really like something because I prance around the house–proudly wearing my new items. It sort of feels like dress up, but for adults. The springy steps celebrate the purchase as a success and off they go to the closet. Yay to new sandals!

When it comes to a gladiaotr sandal, there is a varying degree of height to the straps. Although I still prefer a more subtle gladiator look, some sandals can be tied up all they way to the knee. It’s really all a matter of preference! What’s fun is you can tie them a bit different each time–either wrapped low around the ankle with a bow tie in the front, or laced up around the calf with a small knot in the back. I played around with the tassel ties until I found a look I liked just so.

My sandals were on sale at Shopbop, but if you can’t find your size Nordstrom also carries the same shoe just not at the discounted price.

So, how do you feel about the gladiator sandal? Is it a “yay” or “nay?”
