For my birthday, Chris and I took a road trip up the California coast to Mendocino–a quiet, quaint town with endless views of the pacific ocean. Even after almost two years of living in the Bay area, we still feel like newbies, so I love to explore all there is to see on the west coast. Along the drive up we stopped at a few places, and I got to check off one of my fall to-dos: apple picking!

Sutro Baths
A few weeks back, while my mom was in town we took her into the city and played tourist. Although I work downtown and spend most of my days in San Francisco it’s always fun to venture in on a weekend and explore with new perspective.
Sutro Baths is in Golden Gate Park and houses some of the best views of the Pacific Ocean. It was once the world’s largest indoor swimming pool until it sadly burned down in the 1890s. The ruins remain, where captivated visitors (like me!) snap photos daily.
The Chicago Blues
You may have seen on my Instagram account a few pictures from last weekend’s getaway trip to Chicago. Chris, my husband, had some work meetings scheduled for Monday so we decided to make a mini vacation out of it and to visit with some friends. I used to live in Chicago, and just absolutely love the city.
Blessings in disguise
On my walk to the Caltrain one day, I stumbled across Jeremy’s department store. It features discounted high-fashion apparel and shoes from designers and other major department stores. Having only recently discovered this gem, I was sad to see it move from San Francisco to Berkley; it was dangerously convenient, located on Second street near my downtown office. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise–just like so many of life’s disappointments.
Ups and downs. Twists and turns. You never know where life will lead you next, or what might suddenly change. One thing is for certain–God has a plan, a lavish and grace-giving, abundant plan. I’m constantly reminded of this, even down to this smallest of frustrations.
Here are a few pictures from our dinner date last weekend in what’s now one of my favorite dresses.
Picnic Heaven
While we were in Wine Country this past weekend, we drove down Westside Road which is unexpectedly quiet, with virtually no car in sight. It was a new area of exploration for us and we were astonished by the number of wineries. So often we visit St. Helena and Calistoga which has become increasingly more busy–especially during the summer months–that we enjoyed the slower pace.
