Apple Picking

For my birthday, Chris and I took a road trip up the California coast to Mendocino–a quiet, quaint town with endless views of the pacific ocean. Even after almost two years of living in the Bay area, we still feel like newbies, so I love to explore all there is to see on the west coast. Along the drive up we stopped at a few places, and I got to check off one of my fall to-dos: apple picking!

Sutro Baths

A few weeks back, while my mom was in town we took her into the city and played tourist. Although I work downtown and spend most of my days in San Francisco it’s always fun to venture in on a weekend and explore with new perspective.

Sutro Baths is in Golden Gate Park and houses some of the best views of the Pacific Ocean. It was once the world’s largest indoor swimming pool until it sadly burned down in the 1890s. The ruins remain, where captivated visitors (like me!) snap photos daily.

Blessings in disguise

On my walk to the Caltrain one day, I stumbled across Jeremy’s department store. It features discounted high-fashion apparel and shoes from designers and other major department stores. Having only recently discovered this gem, I was sad to see it move from San Francisco to Berkley; it was dangerously convenient, located on Second street near my downtown office. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise–just like so many of life’s disappointments.

Ups and downs. Twists and turns. You never know where life will lead you next, or what might suddenly change. One thing is for certain–God has a plan, a lavish and grace-giving, abundant plan. I’m constantly reminded of this, even down to this smallest of frustrations.
